Art Scene China is one of the premier Chinese art galleries in China, with two venues in Shanghai and one space in Beijing. The Gallery specializes in Chinese contemporary art by both emerging and well-established Chinese artists. With extensive knowledge of China’s art scene and a strong background in promoting and discovering artists from throughout China, Art Scene China has been playing a major role in presenting Chinese artists’ works both nationally and internationally since 1997. Art Scene China has participated in important international art expositions, including Art Cologne, Art Chicago, Art Miami, San Francisco International Art Expo and CIGE. Art Scene China also regularly cooperates with galleries and institutions internationally to exhibit Chinese artworks around the world.

Art Scene China’s main goal is for people in China and internationally to be able to enjoy and become familiar with the fascinating contemporary Chinese art scene. The Gallery makes the artworks also available for sale. Additionally, Art Scene China provides corporate leasing and private consulting for international art institutes and pre-eminent museums such as the Guggeheim (New York), Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the Asian Art Museum (San Francisco).
chinese art prize (for emerging artists)
Art Scene China is dedicated to continually discovering new Chinese artistic talent. In 2005, Art Scene China created and managed the Chinese Art Prize (CAP); it was origianally called the Dragonair Emerging Chinese Art Awards. The Chinese Art Prize is the first art competition of its kind to focus on young, emerging Chinese artists born after 1975, and open to all entries with no fees. In 2007, the Chinese Art Prize received over 1,300 applicantions from Chinese contemporary artists throughout China and around the world. An important panel of international curators and art critics select the top 20 and ultimately the top 3 artists’ works. Some of the jury members of have included jury president Gerard Goodrow (Director of Art Cologne), Jeff Kelley (Curator of the Asian Art Museum), Li Lei (Executive Director of the Shanghai Art Museum), Dr Marion Ackermann (Director of the Museum of Art, Stuttgart) and Zhong Biao (well-known Chinese contemporary artist).
Art Scene China is committed to not only promoting artists, but also to supporting social programmes. Art Scene China has supported a variety of charities, such as charities benefiting the victims of aids and aids awareness and charities benefiting children and the underprivileged, through donations and holding charity events on-site.
